Jacques Derenne

Jacques Derenne heads the Antitrust, Competition and Economic Regulation practice in Hogan Lovells' Brussels office. He also leads their State aid practice. He is also Associate Professor of State aid law (LL.M. in European Competition and IP law) at the University of Liège. He has advised on all areas of competition law (cartels, abuse of dominance, mergers and State aid) and EU law (particularly in regulated industries). He often appears in cases before the European Commission and EU Courts, national courts and competition authorities, and regulatory bodies.

He publishes widely on EU constitutional, competition and regulatory issues. He is a founding member of the Global Competition Law Centre (College of Europe, Scientific Council and Executive Committee).

He studied in Liège and at the College of Europe and is a member of the Brussels and Paris Bars.
